About the video
Bicycle Friends celebrates one of the simplest pleasures of mountain biking: a beautiful day on the trail with people who love riding as much as you do.
The riders wind through singletrack, work through rocky sections and sweep through turns beneath tall pines. They stop at overlooks, catch their breath, swap stories and head down the trail again. The landscape is as much a character as the riders. Forest opens into meadow, and spring flowers line the way.
Patty Mooney’s original song is a celebration of friendship, freedom and life on two wheels. It doesn’t narrate the action. It moves with the bicycles as they roll through the forest.
Patty is a filmmaker and a longtime mountain biker. The video is her affectionate portrait of recreational riding and of the friendships that grow from hours spent together on dirt.
No podiums. No pressure.
Just bicycles, friends and a good trail on a beautiful day.
Why friendship
Racing, extreme terrain and athletic feats tend to get the attention in mountain biking. For many riders, though, the best days aren’t measured in finishing times or miles. They’re remembered by who was there.
A favorite trail. A ridiculous mishap. Someone waiting at the top of a climb. A view shared at a regroup point. Friends laughing somewhere farther down the mountain. A whoop echoing through the trees can say as much as a conversation.
The video keeps that feeling, along with the short season when winter rains turn Southern California’s dry hills into green meadows full of flowers.
