In April 2004, 82-year-old Magi and her daughter, award-winning filmmaker Patty Mooney, traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the historic March for Women’s Lives on April 25—the largest protest in U.S. history at that time, drawing over 1.2 million people. Armed with a Sony digital camera, tripod, and press credentials, Patty captured the day’s energy, unity, and urgency from front-row vantage points on both main stages of the National Mall.

The event featured powerful speeches and performances by feminist icons and celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg, Kathleen Turner, Julianne Moore, Tyne Daly, Holly Near, Cris Williamson, Anthony Romero, and Carol Moseley Braun. Each delivered strong messages in defense of reproductive rights and gender equality. With the recent reversal of Roe v. Wade by a conservative Supreme Court, the fight for women’s bodily autonomy has re-emerged as a pressing national issue.

In response, Patty has remastered her 2004 documentary My Choice, a compelling musical film that blends rally footage with performances by Cris Williamson, Holly Near, Bethany and Peter Yarrow, Sandy Rapp, Ani DiFranco, and Laura Dawn with Moby. The film serves as both a historical archive and an urgent call to action, inspiring a new generation to continue marching for women’s rights and social justice.
